Deliverable D1.1 – Urban Logistics Challenges
This deliverable analyses urban logistics challenges across NEXTLOGIC’s eight pilot cities. Combining a literature and policy review, city-level assessments and the benchmarking of five solution areas, it identifies common barriers, success factors and monitoring indicators for sustainable urban logistics. The findings provide an evidence base for tailoring NEXTLOGIC’s digital tools, solutions and pilots to different local contexts.

This deliverable defines the foundational architecture of the NEXTLOGIC Digital Platform, bringing together Digital Twins, extended reality (XR) and geospatial analytics. It outlines how data and tools will connect to support urban logistics planning, scenario comparison and stakeholder co-design

The NEXTLOGIC Engagement Toolbox, developed by MUV, is a practical resource supporting stakeholder engagement and co-creation activities across the project. It provides partners with methods, tools and guidance to involve local authorities, businesses, mobility and logistics actors, and citizens in participatory processes, helping ensure that NEXTLOGIC solutions respond to real needs and local contexts.
Urban logistics in the 15-Minute City: A Systematic Review and Research Agenda

Through a systematic literature review, it examines existing solutions, barriers and performance indicators, identifies key research gaps, and proposes an agenda for integrating logistics into sustainable, proximity-based urban planning.

This review explores how Digital Twins support predictive maintenance in wind, solar photovoltaic, hydropower and battery energy storage systems.
